Letterman joke denounced by many, OK by me
Last night David Letterman made a joke in his monologue about the newly appointed transgendered Amanda Simpson to the Department of Commerce. Take a look at the clip and decide for yourself but personally I don't find it overly offensive. Much like the way I tell a lot of racist, sexist, and sexual preference jokes (and I mean A LOT), they're never about the race, sex, or sexual preference, rather focused on the people who believe in such a way. The sad fact is that many guys would react exactly the same way as the man in the clip, and occasionally to violent ends, but the joke is on them for their ignorance.

I agree with you. That joke was not malicious toward transgendered folk so much as it was critical of closed-minded heterosexual males.
